Finnish class

Ok, I’ve been going to Finnish class now for 2 weeks. Tomorrow will be my 5th time going, and I’m still feeling like I’m the only one who hardly can speak somewhat Finnish. Sure, the class started 2 months ago, and I have a lot to catch up, but even then I’m still feeling that I’m way behind the rest. Some even speak Finnish so well that I wonder why they’re in class anyways. :S

Anyways, I’m sure that it’ll go better in a few months. :) Have to study more every day.

I’m here!

After all these months, I’m finally living in Finland. I’ve applied for some jobs already at companies like Nokia & Satama, but tomorrow I’m going to the Espoon työvoimatoimisto at Espoon keskus. I hope they can provide me with more info on how to work in Finland and what to do as a foreigner.

At the 23rd of October I’m going to take Finnish class at last, have been calling and going around to places for information, but they keep sending me to other places. It’s by far easy for foreigners to get some good information! And the websites offer only a little bit of information, but don’t tell you where you should go. Anyways, I called with Ms. Monika Hotanen, and she provided me with enough information about classes and told I could chip in class still. So the 23rd I’m going to the Matinkylän koulu at Tapiola for Finnish class. :)

Btw, the weather here reminds me a lot of Belgium. With all the rain that’s been falling lately…

One month left!

In exactly 1 month I’ll move to Finland, time has been flying so fast!

In the meanwhile I’m planning and arranging stuff for the big move, have to think what to take with me when I leave.

First snow has fallen in Finland last week, so I’ll probably have to take some warmer clothes with me. :)

Long time no blog

I’ve been rather busy lately, so I haven’t been working on my site or blogging.

I found work last month in a call center for the biggest cable internet company called Telenet in Belgium.

Basically my job is taking calls when some random person calls and starts nagging he doesn’t have an internet/phone connection. I have to check if his modem is still working, or if his line has problems, there is a maintenance planned in the street, some moron rammed a cable distribution box and the whole street has no more cable TV, internet or phone-connection.

Some days it’s pretty stressful, some days it’s chilling and kicking back hoping no one calls to harass you with his problems :p

I’ve also booked my ticket (one way baby!) to Finland for October the 2nd! So I’m counting down the days till I move to Finland for my quest for a job. :)

I can stay at my girlfriend’s parent’s place until I have a job and have my own place. After she graduates, we’ll look for something to rent then.

Anyways, I’ll try to update this blog more and get some work done on my site. I’m still wondering what will be the main content of that to be honest, if you have any input or recommendations, feel free to leave a comment!

51 koodia

I’ve recently discovered this Finnish band called 51 Koodia. They’re a band originated from Joensuu consisting out of 4 members:
Hannu Sallinen: Vocals, Jute: Guitars, Asko: Bass, Olli-Matti: Drums

Their homepage is www.51koodia.com but only in Finnish.

The song’s name “Kahleet” means “Shackles“, and is one of the songs on their 2007 album called “Pimeyttä kaunein väräät”. Enjoy!
